About/Contact

Throughout my long career in journalism and as a creative director, I always made time for pursuing my own art. During my ten years at Mother Jones magazine where I was the founding art director, I won many national awards and was a jurist for others.  I was previously the art director at Rampart’s and then went to Women’s Sports magazine.  After Mother Jones I joined Banana Republic as Design Director and later authored several books and journals  for Chronicle Books which also published notecards and posters with my art from those titles.

For decades I enjoyed the camaraderie of working closely with renowned photographers, illustrators, writers, editors and designers.

Now there is the  quiet joy of working alone, with my hands--from rounding willow branches into lassos to scraping away layers of Japanese papers revealing vintage photographs.
